There are no dive centers on Naxos, so the best way to combine work and underwater adventure is workingin the evening an dfreediving during the day. Anyway, it's illegal to dive during the night in Greece.

Floating

Upside down at 2m underwater and looking at the surface is quite incredible. It feels like flying...like having the sky under my feet. Jacques Cousteau mentioned looking at the surface when it's raining. He's comparing the drops of rain penetrating the water with tiny stalactites. It didn't rain in Greece.

Dana is preparing to descend

She has a flashlight in her right hand. The deeper you go, the less colour you see around. Water is like a progressive filter for light. It filters out the colours in the spectrum opposite to blue (like red) untill the only colour left is blue. So the best way to see plants and animals in their beauty is to use a light source.

Starfish

I bought a 10euro underwater camera and took some pictures. At least they remind me of Naxos.

Coloured fish all over the place

This is peacock wrasse.

Fish again

I was lasy and unexperienced in taking pictures.

Starfish on a fin

I brought the starfish out of the water for a few minutes to show it to Dana. At first it sticked to my hand. Pulling it slowly did the job. I didn't want to harm it's small tentacles.

Crystal-clear water
